About Brentwood Neighborhood Park

Brentwood Neighborhood Park sits in one of Austin's most walkable central neighborhoods, just north of 45th Street off Arroyo Seco. The park has 2 courts that can be set up for pickleball on the existing hard surface — players need to bring their own nets, which is worth knowing before you make the trip.

The park draws a mix of Brentwood locals and players from surrounding Hyde Park and Allandale who prefer a low-key neighborhood setting over the busier city rec centers. Courts are free, no reservation required, first-come first-served. Because it's only 2 courts and nets aren't permanent, it's best suited for a group that's coming together rather than hoping to find a pickup game.

What makes Brentwood worth the trip beyond the courts is everything around them. The park includes a free public swimming pool — no admission, with a main pool running roughly 3.5 to 4.7 feet deep plus a shallow kiddie pool with a fountain — along with a sand volleyball court, basketball court, softball field, playscape, adult workout equipment, a covered pavilion, and a walking path. For a family where one person wants court time and everyone else wants something to do, few central Austin parks stack up this well.

The courts are lighted, which extends play well past sunset in the summer and is not a given at neighborhood parks this size. Parking is free along Arroyo Seco. Best times are weekday mornings and early afternoons when courts are less crowded; expect more competition for space on summer evenings and weekends when the pool draws a crowd.
