About Austin High Tennis Center
Austin High Tennis Center sits along West Cesar Chavez Street on the south bank of Lady Bird Lake, giving it one of the best locations of any free court in the city. The 3 outdoor pickleball courts have permanent nets and lines, and they're lit for evening play — a major advantage for players who want to avoid Austin's midday heat in summer.
The location makes it popular with downtown and Clarksville residents, as well as anyone who pairs their pickleball session with a walk or run on the Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail nearby. Courts are free, first-come first-served, and open to anyone — no membership required. The proximity to downtown means it can get busy on weekday evenings and weekend mornings.
Parking is free in the adjacent lot off Cesar Chavez, though it can fill up on busy days given the trail access. Restrooms are available. With lights for evening play and a prime central location, Austin High is one of the better free court options in the city for players who work downtown or live in central Austin neighborhoods.
